When people first meet Jonathan Klein, his passion is evident. Passion for people, exceptional service, and real estate. Jonathan knows that the cornerstone of real estate is an understanding of people and that homes are an extension of who we are. Listening to and working with people comes naturally to him. Jonathan's specialty is providing his clients with specific, highly personalized market analysis, a detailed marketing plan, home preparation, staging, and a deep understanding of their needs.
Jonathan has seventeen years of experience buying, selling, and fixing properties. He knows the process can be as daunting as it is rewarding. He makes the process easy to understand, so his clients can concentrate on the rewarding aspects: getting the most for their property and landing in the perfect home for the next chapter in their lives. His expertise includes working with first-time buyers and clients navigating 1031 exchanges.
Originally from New York, Jonathan came to California at age 18 and graduated from Chapman University with a degree in theater. Over the past 34 years, he has developed a deep understanding of what makes people tick: their desires, needs, and vulnerabilities. Prior to joining Sotheby's, Jonathan built his own business in the hospitality sector, focusing on heroic customer service and quality of the product—virtues he brings to real estate sales.
Entrepreneurship runs in Jonathan's family. His father, Ben Klein, founded the iconic and influential fashion brand Junior Sophisticates, and his stepfather, Bill Cooper, ran his own family business distributing kitchen appliances. Growing up around innovators and self-starters taught Jonathan what it means to lead with integrity, creativity, and follow-through. That entrepreneurial spirit runs deep—it's in his blood—and it drives the way he approaches every transaction, with equal parts care, curiosity, and commitment.
Jonathan also has a passion for his community. He developed and ran an arts outreach program called The Young Writers Project for 13 years. The program teaches playwriting in underserved, local area schools, and, after serving over 5,000 students and premiering 85 plays, it is still going strong today. Jonathan was also a proud mentor for the Silver Lake Children's Theatre Group, teaching kids about technical theater and designing many of their plays. He ran their summer arts program at the Silver Lake YMCA. He served as Treasurer of the Foundation of La Crescenta Elementary School and currently serves on the Board of Directors at Theatre of NOTE in Hollywood.
Jonathan currently lives in La Crescenta with his wife, Jen, children Max and Olivia, and Boston Terrier, Hazel. He loves cooking (and eating), playing guitar, and spending time with his family and friends.
