Derrick Swaak joined TTR Sotheby’s International Realty in 2007 as a Partner and currently serves as President & Chief Operating Officer for the firm. With over 25 years of experience in real estate and leadership, Derrick plays a pivotal role in driving the company’s strategic growth and ensuring operational excellence. Before joining TTR Sotheby’s, Derrick brought his expertise to Realogy Corp. in Madison, New Jersey, where he served as Vice President of National Sales for Sotheby’s International Realty.
Earlier in his career, Derrick gained extensive expertise in hotel development, acquisitions, and franchise sales while working with several national lodging chains. He holds an undergraduate degree in Hotel Administration and an MBA in Finance, both from Cornell University. Derrick resides in McLean, Virginia. He is deeply engaged in his local community, having served as President of the Langley Swim & Tennis Club and as Board Chair for McLean Project for the Arts, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the visual arts.
In 2018, he was appointed to the Community Business Center Task Force, where he contributed to developing a long-term redevelopment vision for downtown McLean. Derrick is also recognized for his leadership within the real estate industry. At the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors (NVAR), representing over 13,000 professionals, he has held various leadership positions, including serving as President of the NVAR Board of Directors in 2021. He also served on the National Association of Realtors (NAR) Board of Directors from 2019 to 2022, and currently serves at the state level as a member of the Virginia Realtors Board of Directors.
In addition, Derrick serves on the Board of Directors for Bright MLS Inc., one of the largest and most innovative multiple listing services in the United States, supporting over 100,000 subscribers across six mid-Atlantic states. He also holds a three-year appointment on NAR’s Multiple Listing Issues and Policies Committee. Derrick is a licensed Broker in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
