Jamila joined TTR Sotheby’s International Realty to build on her personal experience as an investor and a landlady for over 10 years. Her interest in real estate was first sparked in 2005, when her former landlord asked her to manage and fill vacancies in his 46-unit building in Chicago, Illinois. As a 20-year-old immigrant, she did not realize real estate would become her path and passion. Having worked for several years for the federal government reviewing and analyzing commercial and residential real estate business plans, including phases of construction, architectural and engineering plans, drawings, feasibility studies, and funding sources. All this experience lead Jamila into wanting to pursue her own business in the real estate industry. Jamila was born in Azerbaijan, a country bordering the northwest tip of Iran and immigrated to the United States when she was 20 years old. She earned a bachelor's degree in Law from Baku State University, the capital city of Azerbaijan. Upon arriving in the United States, she earned a master's degree in Conflict Resolution from George Mason University. Growing up in the Soviet Union, she was exposed to various cultures, traditions, and languages. She has a diverse background and is fluent in Azerbaijani, Russian, and Turkish. She believes the discipline and perseverance instilled into her early on as a child by her parents are the keys to success in real estate. She understands the importance of commitment to the clients, prioritizing their needs, and through discipline navigating any difficult situation to take transactions to the settlement table. Outside of real estate, Jamila enjoys keeping up with fashion and sewing for herself and friends. Being outdoors is where she feels most at home, whether it is playing tennis or biking along the Potomac River. Wanting to keep and pass on the love of her country, she volunteered at an Azerbaijani Community Center in Fairfax, Virginia. She taught Azerbaijani-American children about the culture, language, traditions, and heritage. St. Jude's Children's Hospital is an organization that Jamila desires to help. She wants to see every child receive quality care no matter the financial status of the parents.
